On June 6, the Pacific Life Foundation hosted more than 70 local nonprofit organizations at its annual Grants Reception in Newport Beach.

This celebration honors the many Orange County nonprofit organizations that the Pacific Life Foundation supports, as well as serves as a networking opportunity for grantees to connect with one another.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Walter B. Gerken Community Service Award. This year’s recipient was Community Action Partnership’s OC Food Bank, a program that unites communities to end hunger and malnutrition by partnering with more than 300 local charities, soup kitchens and community organizations, donating more than 23 million pounds of food annually. In addition to receiving a beautiful whale statue to commemorate the award, the OC Food Bank was received a $100,000 unrestricted grant check.

This year’s event also marked the Pacific Life Foundation’s 40th anniversary of giving. Although the Foundation has been formally established for only 40 years, Pacific Life’s legacy of giving extends much farther back than that.

Over Pacific Life’s lengthy legacy of giving, the contributions of the Foundation have been able to make an incredible impact on the communities where our employees live and work. In fact, the Pacific Life Foundation, together with Pacific Life, has invested more than $150 million in nonprofit organizations working to address some of the most critical needs in our communities.
