About the Program

For the seventh consecutive year, the Pacific Life Foundation is proudly partnering with Life Happens to aid the financial burden for college students who have lost a parent without life insurance. This $75,000 investment in the Life Lessons scholarship program was a part of September’s Life Insurance Awareness Month (LIAM). For twenty years, LIAM has been educating consumers about the importance of life insurance and its role in protecting families’ financial security. The Life Lessons scholarships supported by the Pacific Life Foundation are awarded to students in states where Pacific Life employees live and work.

This year, nearly 200 Pacific Life Volunteers reviewed applications from students, explaining how the death of a parent without life insurance impacted their lives. Students opened up about the loss and hardships they’ve faced at such a young age, and how a scholarship would help them not only achieve their educational and career goals, but also a financially secure future. The resiliency that each of these students displayed is nothing short of inspiring, and it’s an honor to support them in this next chapter of their lives. Thank you to all the volunteers, including our summer interns, who took the time to review scholarship applications this year and help select our recipients.

To date, the Pacific Life Foundation has provided over half a million dollars in college scholarships in partnership with Life Happens. As an organization, we are deeply connected to the Life Lessons Scholarship Program as it showcases the importance of having life insurance protection, as well as encouraging students to pursue higher education, a key initiative within our philanthropy program.
