Pacific Life Foundation Responds to Covid-19 Pandemic with Support for Our Nonprofit Partners and Communities

The Pacific Life Foundation recognizes that many of our nonprofit partners are at the forefront of providing critical services to meet the needs of low-income families during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are proud to have been able to support both our nonprofit partners and our communities in several different ways, including fulfilling our commitment to invest $1.75 million in Covid-19 relief efforts.

  • 213 GRANTEES: In March, to support the immediate financial needs of our nonprofit partners, the Pacific Life Foundation unrestricted all 2020 Program Grants distributed in January, allowing our 213 grantees to direct nearly $2.1 million in funds instead toward general operations or the greatest needs of their organization. We hope that this has allowed our community partners to extend job security to their workforce or support other needs in the community that can be more immediately addressed with these funds.
  • $790,000+ DONATED: In support of #GivingTuesdayNow, the Pacific Life Foundation offered a special 200% match rate for employee donations given to nonprofit organizations for pandemic relief. With $529,130 in Pacific Life Foundation matching gifts, a total of $793,445 was donated to 412 charities across 37 states during this project.

  • $635,000 IN EMERGENCY GRANTS: To provide some short-term stability to those who are most vulnerable in our communities, the Pacific Life Foundation made emergency grants in Orange County, Omaha, and Lynchburg to food banks and community funds that have been established to support essential needs for individuals who have seen a decrease in income or lost a job.

In June, more than 1,400 Pacific Life volunteers participated from their homes in the Soap Saves Lives campaign, assembling 25,000 essential hygiene kits donated to three nonprofit organizations – HomeAid Orange County, Lynchburg Community Action Group, and Heartland Hope Mission in Omaha.
  • 850 THANK YOU LETTERS: In April, more than 300 Pacific Life employees and family members volunteered to write letters of gratitude and encouragement to more than 850 first responders and helpers, who are serving on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2021, the Foundation team will continue working to identify how to best support the evolving needs of our local communities. We deeply appreciate our partners’ relentless commitment to solving the most pressing challenges faced by the communities where our employees live and work. We’ll do this together!
